Nepal’s DTH Dish Media Networks Upgrades Capacity on AMOS-4 Satellite with Multi-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Deal
Long-term Contract to add HD, SD Channels and Services
Tel Aviv – 2 March 2016: Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, today announced that Nepal’s Dish Media Network has entered into another long-term contract adding more capacity to its current capacity on AMOS-4. Located at the 65°E prime orbital position, AMOS-4 is providing Dishhome with substantial satellite capacity to enable the DTH provider to add further SD and HD channels to expand its service.
Founded in 2009, Dish Media Network Pvt. Ltd. is the only DTH operator with distribution covering all of Nepal. One of Nepal’s fastest-growing operators in the broadcast and transmission services industry for digital television channels, Dishhome’s capacity on AMOS-4 is contracted for the satellite’s lifetime.
Dish Media Network CEO Sudeep Acharya commented, “This agreement provides more bandwidth for our national network and enables Dishhome to boost the number of channels we offer to improve the viewing experience for customers. With the additional capacity from AMOS-4 we can further our strategic goals and strengthen our operations.”
According to David Pollack, Spacecom president & CEO, “AMOS-4’s position at 65°E is excellent for providing Dishhome with all of its satellite services in the years to come. Our capacity enables them to embark upon a program to substantially grow their subscriber base as well as their broadcasting capabilities. AMOS-4’s strength and focus on Asia is a prime reason for their choice and our team’s abilities to answer their needs with reliable and smart service is an important element for the future.”
AMOS-4 has eight Ku-band transponders of 108 MHz and four high-power Ka-band transponders of 216MHz, each with steerable beams. The Ku and Ka transponders create a powerful platform, enabling a wide range of connectivity options to reach the region’s vast urban and rural areas. Offering extensive broadcast and broadband reach for satellite services including DTH, video distribution, VSAT communications and broadband Internet, the satellite’s geographic position meets broadcast and broadband needs within the Asian, African and Middle Eastern markets.
